Our diverse selection of spaces that you can choose will make the perfect and tailored evening for your rehearsal dinner, birthday party, bridal/baby showers, cocktail party, celebration of life, or corporate event.

  • Looking for a unique and memorable venue for your next corporate meeting or event? A non-traditional venue that is flexible, can accommodate from 10 to 140 people, a choice of indoor or outdoor, and as a bonus, can be informative, entertaining and enlightening?

    The Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History is your answer. The Museum also plays host to weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, cocktail parties, birthday parties, bridal/baby showers, and more, so we are prepared for and have experience in virtually any kind of meeting, event or celebration.

    Plus, your guests have access to all the informative and engrossing exhibits, collections and displays the Museum has become renowned for.

    You could rent the entire museum, including the galleries, garden, and kitchen preparation areas for a large event of up to 150 people, or use one of the galleries or rooms including our Bird Gallery, Main Gallery, Classroom, and Native Plant Garden for a quieter gathering.

  • The perfect gathering space for a smaller group. This rental allows use of the Main Gallery, Bird Gallery, Collector's Gallery, and Native Plant Garden for your indoor-outdoor event and provides the perfect flow for guests to stay all on the main floor enjoying an evening of fun! This rental is required for large events over 75 people.

  • The Main Gallery features beautiful hardwood floors, an upper mezzanine, and side galleries. Ideal for large events, it accommodates 80 people (60 seated for dining).

  • The Museum’s Bird Room is a fun and unique venue for events, featuring a large screen, speaker podium, and an excellent space for meals due to its open layout and proximity to the kitchen. Additionally, it offers a large auditorium with audio/visual capabilities and a large screen.

  • Our classroom is ideal for small, beautifully decorated events. The Museum's Education Room, with AV capability, can host intimate parties and talks for up to 25 people.

Get Married at the Museum!

Pacific Grove's popular museum serves as the perfect wedding venue for your special day - all in the heart of Pacific Grove. Steps from Lover's Point and the Pacific coastline, the Museum provides an aesthetically interesting backdrop. The central coast Native Plant Garden bursts with over 100 species of wildflowers, herbs, and trees in the spring and summer, and provides a beautiful spot for twinkling lights in the fall and winter. Take your vows under the iconic Buckeye tree and then meander indoors for cocktails and reception. ADA accessible.

We also partner with Sea Stars Catering & Events to make sure you are taken care of every step of the way and in every manner: from planning the perfect event, to delicious to food, to beautiful decor.

Weddings utilize our entire facility including the Bird Gallery, Main Gallery, Garden, dressing room, and prep kitchen, to accommodate up to 150 guests.

Birthday Parties at the Museum

  • $425 for Members

    $475 for Non-Members

    • Two hours of access to our Education Room from 11:00am-1:00pm or 12:00pm-2:00pm.

    • Staff set-up and clean up

    • Party decorations

    • Staff choice guided art project (child's choice of theme)

    • Museum tour and/or scavenger hunt

    • Pizza for children, two slices per child

    • Compostable and/or recyclable plates, cups, & cutlery

    • Water & Lemonade

    • Following the party, guests may enjoy the main Museum at no additional cost.

    • Up to 15 children and their grownups (minimum 1 adult per 5 children, Maximum Capacity of children is 20, maximum capacity for our party room for children and adults is 25).

  • Each party is designed for 15 children and requires one adult guest per every 5 children. If you would like to add an additional 5 children for a total of 20, there is an additional $20 fee per child. Additional pizza may be purchased at-cost by parents from the company directly.

  • Complete registration information below and please allow up to three business days to be contacted by our Events Coordinator. You will receive a call or email confirming your request and a birthday letter to sign. (Remember to check your spam!)

    Your party will be reserved when the birthday letter is signed and the party is paid in full.

    In case of cancellation, the Museum will refund the party cost to all parties that cancel up to two weeks prior to the scheduled party. All cancellations that are made less than five days prior to the scheduled party without rescheduling will forfeit 50% of the party cost, which will be considered a donation to the Museum.

    Additional purchases are non-refundable. The party’s final payment for additional guests and additional pizza fees must be paid a minimum of two days before the event starts.
