Tracking and Birding Workshop

Amanda Preece from Monterey Audubon and Meghan Walla-Murphy from North Bay Bear Collaborative will co-lead a birding and wildlife tracking trip along a fairly smooth and compact trail in Fort Ord National Momument. To find tracks, we need the substrate to be a little sandy, but we worked to find a trail that has options for people who don't feel comfortable walking in sand. Total distance will be around 0.8 miles, and we'll travel over pavement, hard-packed dirt, and shallow sand. We’ll likely see oak savannah species such as Wrentit, Spotted Towhee, Red-shouldered Hawk, and many more, plus signs of nocturnal mammals like coyote, bobcat, raccoon, and others.

If could be cool and foggy at the location and then become clear and sunny. Dress accordingly!

If the event gets rained out we will let people know by 8am Saturday 11/9 via email, however we expect a lovely day.

Space for this special event is limited so be sure to sign up today!
